About MidSummer Music (MSM)

History

The Midsummer Music Agency began as a way of bringing the Midsummer Ensemble, Midsummer Quartet and the Ringerike Ceilidh Band to those who loved music and wanted good music for their weddings and functions. Over a number of years, the agency grew to include the music groups of friends and colleagues around the country. 

Today, Derek Walker (who leads the founding music groups), his wife Margaret and our musical colleagues are pleased to be able to offer you a wide range of live music groups and bands that cover the Classical, Jazz, Folk and pop/rock/cover genres. 

Location

The Midsummer Music Agency is based in Malvern, Worcestershire, Great Britain, a Victorian spa town with a long history of musical connections. Edward Elgar lived here for many years, walking on the Malvern Hills to gain inspiration for his great works. Jenny Lind [the "Swedish Nightingale"] also lived here, and both are buried in the Malverns. Malvern is also the home of the English Symphony Orchestra, whose CDs are popular throughout the world, and the Chandos Symphony Orchestra. Also, the violin virtuoso, Nigel Kennedy made the Malverns his home. We like to think the musical environment helps our business prosper!

The Team

Our team is comprised of two units. Firstly, the front of house team that deals with bookings, enquiries, musicians wanting to join our site, and who also provide support to both musicians and our customers all the way up to the event and after. Secondly, we have the I.T. team who maintain the website, ensuring all the information you browse through is up to date, and who deal with the technical side. 

The MidSummer Music team is in itself a musical group, including folk musicians, classical musicians and rock musicians, and the instruments played by our team members combined come to piano, violin, guitar, mandolin, bodhran, harmonica, foot-drum, vocals, various brass instruments... So we are a musical bunch! As such we are very well placed to find you the group you are looking for, having the knowledge to find you the most suitable bands for your requirements.

So both customers using our site to book musicians, but also the musicians on our site enjoy working with us, as when it comes to music we know what we are talking about!

Between us we have a law degree, 2 history degrees, a French degree, an Engineering sciences degree and various I.T. qualifications, so from legal queries to translation into French to a history of the Malvern hills we have most of it covered...!

We are a close knit team who work efficiently and effectively, but don't just take our word for it...
